Fuel return line madness
Today I noticed a puddle of fluid under my truck when I came out of Napa with some oil for the ol’ gal, and to my fear, shock and amazement it wasn’t oil trans fluid of coolant, but fuel. So after a quick search I found the fitting coming from the back of the passenger side head under the turbo was pissing fuel.(truck off, keys in my pocket) fourtunately Napa let me borrow a wrench and I tightened it up and all was good. Got home, got my oil changed and pulled it out of the garage a little while later I noticed a wet spot underneath. Smelled like diesel. Pulled the fitting off instead of tightening it thinking that maybe some foreign material somehow ended up in the fitting and was keeping the flare from seating what I found was something that doesn’t look factory the brass coupler looks stripped and has what I can only assume is remnants of JB weld on it and the flare adapter stuck in the end doesn’t have anything for the line to seat on. While I was loosening off the nut on the line black gunk was coming out between the line and the nut. Now my question for you all is, is there supposed to be a rubber sleeve or something that goes between the nut and the flared line or was this just super cobbled together and JB welded at some point? And if I might go further and ask if anyone knows what should be back there?

Here is a link to whats to be on it, maybe someone did a repair at one point
