2019 Sync3 Software Update

Wondering if anyone has done an update to their Sync software (mine is Sync3) via the USB port?

I understand the engine must be running to perform the update and all that is required is to plug a thumb drive with the updated software into the USB port and it will complete the update.

MY QUESTION IS: Will any confirmation of Success/Completion be displayed on the monitor when the process has finished?

Yes, I have done the update with usb port. Some updates can take a while, (like 2 hrs) You will get a confirmation when done. I did one on a road trip.

You mean I might have to have the truck running for 2 hrs. to complete the update? I do not know that it is worth the time/trouble, given no info whatsoever as to the benefits gained by updating the software.

I thought I read somewhere that the updates are downloaded/performed automatically when I Wi-Fi connection has been programed into the Sync3 system. Is this not true?
