High output engine

For you guys that had the standard 6.7 engine and upgraded to the new high output engine, did you actually notice any additional power when pulling a trailer that weighs between 6000 to 8000 pounds?

Curious to know if there’s a noticeable difference with an additional 25 hp/150 foot pounds of torque for the additional $2500

My sources tell me you’ll be okay with either turbo diesel engine. Neither one will much notice that trailer on the back lol.

Just curious, what are you doing with that 8,000 lbs trailer where you are already using the full power and torque of the standard output 6.7, to the point of wondering if the extra power and torque of the HO can be applied or felt?
I would think a 7.3 Super Duty could whip around almost like a sports car with only 8K on the hitch, heck I pulled a 12/13K lbs TT for 80K miles with a 2V V-10 with the 4 speed auto and it never really felt underpowered.

Get what you want is really the bottom line. It's been rumored that the HO will become the only option at some point.

My 2016 daully with the 6.7 3.73 gearing pulling 16k# in the western mountains has no problem. I would think a 6.7 of either flavor with more hp/ tq would have no discernible difference pulling 8-9k#. At that weight why waste the money unless you really want to show off red badges. 😉

Yes, I notice the difference between my 2020 6.7 SO and my 23 6.7 HO pulling 13,000 lbs up 7-8% grades.
I also see a difference between my stock 6.7HO and when I have the EDGE EZX tuner on my HO.

Do I need either? No my 6.7SO pulled the trailer up a 7% grade just fine. Main difference is if I get stuck behind a semi and loose my speed and I need to move over a lane and accelerate back up to the limit. The SO works a little harder to get back the momentum we lost

My FIL has a '23 with the SO. I have a '25 with the HO. He has 3.23 gears or something, I have 3.55's with 35" tires. His is an F250 with the heavy tow springs/axle, mine is an F350 Tremor.

Driving around empty I can't really tell a difference between the two. Driving with his fifth wheel behind either truck, mine seems to do a BIT better but that could be attributed to the 3.55's as well. And by a 'bit' better I mean based off the seat of the pants I seem to accelerate slightly faster, through a 1/4 mile it would probably only show up as .01 seconds faster.

Overall I would argue that until you get into some HEAVY weight, you likely wouldn't notice the difference between an SO or an HO except the price tag. Heck I didn't really want the HO but your options for a Tremor are the 7.3 or the HO, and I wanted the Tremor and a diesel.

Lately I've been seeing a lot of videos and reviews that seem to indicate that Ford is using massive amounts of torque management in the tuning on the H.O. trucks to keep the driveline intact. This, in turn, is preventing the H.O. trucks from outperforming slightly older 6.7L trucks or competitors' new trucks.

With that being said I don't think I would spend the additional $3k for the H.O. engine. I would instead spend that money on a reputable aftermarket tune and simultaneously make the problematic parts fall off the truck.

I pull a heavy 44-foot fifth wheel and noticed a huge difference in areas of merging into traffic, pulling up mountain hills and less shifting of the transmission as the truck has more power to consistantly stay or maintain highway speeds on cruise control
