ok the other day i was going down this road that had a mud hole (as wide as the road but 4 ft long)in the middle of it. it didnt look verry deep so i went through. got through ok then on the way back i went through it again and after i got out of the hole my abs light came on and i heard a bunch of grinding / chatring. i got it back to my buddies house ware i pulled the drivers side tire off cuz thats ware most of the noise was coming from. the shroud that goes behind the rotor was bent so it was grinding aginst the rotor. i bent it back and put the tire back on. went around the block a few times testing the brakes. when i applied the brakes a 1/4 inch down i felt it puls like tha abs was kicking in i was on dry roads. then after i started going again the the abs motor kicked in and it started pulsing again.
i have taken apart the whole front breaks. repaked bearings, bent both shrouds back, pushed calipers in (really weird i have dual piston calipers on this ranger). and i put it back together and disconnected the battery for 20 minutes. take it out for a test drive and it still does the same thing!!
i am all out of ideas and the hayens manual does a whole lot of good (should have bought chiltons) so please help!
i am not going to atempt any more tonight but tomarrow i will be back at it thanks for any help its a 96 ranger xlt 3.0L 5 speed no 4x4

its 4wheel abs. i got most of the problem resolved. on the back of the rotor there is a little "plate" that the abs sensor pics up. that tells the sensor if the wheel is locked or not. when i took the rotor off i found that the plate was bent. i bent it back as best i could and i mostly fixed the problem. but i still get abs kick on when i am stopping. its torwards the bottom of the peadal and its only happens when im 10mph or slower. i had to do breaks so i cleaned every thing again. repacked bearings with high speed bearing grease. it works fine mostly. but it will work till after christmas. so keep the help coming thanks
