Is there a source for the captive nut thats on the inner fender that holds the hood hinge? I’m missing the cage and nut on two and two are just missing the nut. Is this something you just make yourself and weld in? Either way I still need square nuts. Those Im sure I can find online.
They're just there for ease of assembly. you can put a washer and a nut on and accomplish the same thing.
I realize that, but it’s gotta be a pain in the *** to try and reach up there that high when you have to adjust the hood.
What about welding a nut permanent? How much play does it need to have to adjust the hood? Hopefully all the adjustment is in the oblong holes in the hinge bracket?
It's not that hard, I've stripped a couple out and so I just put a nut behind it.
Your right. It probably isn’t that bad. Im thinking that it will probably just be me trying to swing freshly painted body panels around without any free hands. For the hood I’ll probably get help. But I did see Rich post a picture of one swinging from an engine hoist. Even with an extra guy, that would help. Hopefully I won’t push myself to go solo.
The new captive nuts were too captive. It wasn’t going to have near as much play. I even cut out the one that was still left because it was so rusty. It was just one more place begging for rust to return.
