KC turbo cleaning
I recall when I cleaned my OEM many years ago, I used anti-seize in various locations and ran it for a year before opting for the KC unit.
I contacted KC directly inquiring about anti-seize use.
Their response:
We do not recommend using any anti seize, just use some pb plater on the vanes and ring and that's all you would need.
The anti size together with the soot will just gunk it up right away.
I am taking their advice since they build these things on a daily.
Just food for thought and wondering what you guys do when you disassemble and clean?
Thanks
Joe
I will use it on the case but I think I will take their advice considering they build, assemble and re-assemble without using it on the vanes or ring.
I am curious to see once I disassemble if any anti seize was used. It has been sealed and untouched since I installed it a decade ago....with zero issues to date.

I wonder if caking on anti-seize mixed with the soot PLUS the oil mist from the CCV (if still in place) would make for a headache.
I'll report on the internals of my turbo once I break into it later this month. I probably wouldn't be in a hurry to do this but I have that damn 8yo coolant pipe on the firewall, requiring R&R that sprang a drip at the crimp. PLUS the BD up-pipes I installed that I know rub on the stud for that particular pipe.
I still can't believe it happened to me

If I didn't have the newly installed turbo blanket on, you bet I would have seen and/or checked that. That turbo blanket makes an already hard task that much more difficult.
I will say this but not to hijack my own thread, that turbo blanket works. I can literally touch the turbine with a bare hand after the engine has been allowed to come up to temp.
Does it really benefit performance....who knows, but it keeps that heat from radiating out.
Thank you all for the feedback.
Joe
