No key for lock on spare tire handle
No key for lock on spare tire handle
I own a 2015 F150 that I bought used off Carvana. I just put new tires on it, and checked the spare visually, it looks brand new. Same brand as the old tires but again looks new. I wanted to check the air pressure so I opened the little hatch door for access to the mechanism to lower it and there is a lock on it. I have no key. Was this a feature of F150s back then? Is it possible to match a key for it based on the VIN? Wondering out loud here, thanks for any help.

Some people like to keep their spare from being stolen. My old truck still has the original spare, never been on the ground in 12 years, new truck didn't come with a spare, instead it came with a cheesy little air compressor with some liquid tire repair inside it. No jack, no tools of any kind, not even the rods to lower the spare if it had one, it did come with the standard spare tire carrier under the bed though, go figure.
