you'll be surprised at how much waste we still dealt with building these, had to install the attic flooring, piled inside, finish flooring left in boxes, boxes of siding to finish the outside, roofing bundles, base and trim molding,
late subcontractors! yes that's the truth, hung onto the contact info for 2 a great electrician and a very good always on time plumber .
the photo is very deceiving , yes they at that very time getting a verbal warning from the unsite building inspector watching the crane work, about the hats, they were NOT under the house section by a good 20 feet , if the crane failed right then, the house would have fallen on the dirt right at the cranes feet , they would have been safe in the trench ,
also safety netting, had been removed to be able to walk around the area ,make room for the crane's, 100 foot x 75 ton reach . all safe guards were restored after the lift and roof raise, soil erosion fencing is out of site around the 4 acre lot, work site keep out posting and fencing is out of site from the photo,
Most of the waist is due to the cost of labor. It’s cheaper to throw away usable material than to pay someone to sort, stack and pull nails from perfectly good lumber. I spoke to the foreman of a new subdivision about raiding his piles of “waist”. He was more than happy to let me, as long as I didn’t make a mess. Less for him to deal with and pay for at the land fill. Also, i scored tonnes of perfectly good nails and screws with my mag roller!! I’ll never have to buy nails again!
They installed the siding today. I pulled some really good long cuts from the dumpster tonight. Should be enough for any future repairs, if need be. Changed to a nicer color than what the old siding was. My garage looks modern, but the house looks worse now.

Store half outside and half inside. This way you have weathered pieces for repairs on the sunny side of the house, an un-weathered ones for the shaded side.
