Recently while doing a compression check on my engine, I was kinda shocked to see that AB injectors have been installed. I tried searching through the forum to see what truck had Cali emissions. When I went to E-fuel there was not the dampener on the metal fuel lines going to the heads. The catalyst sticker does say use in Cali in trucks over 14k GVW. My pcm code is MLE1, which Hydra and Chattanooga Diesel say is for federal emissions. I have attached a photo of one is the injectors. The donor truck was a 1997 F-250 Heavy Duty. Am I missing something?
Yes they all are AB, truck runs great! Two seem to be Motorcraft and the others are some parts house special. Did compression check and pulled injectors due to chasing an oil consumption issue. Do you know if it possible that the internal orings in the injector can cause an oil consumption issue?
It is possible that who ever remaned the injectors built them to AA specs, using AB injectors as cores. I read somewhere that the solenoids are all the same regardless of the coding on them. Don't take this as the gospel, as you can read anything on the inter web. Jim at Rosewood Diesel could probably tell you more. Yes the internal o rings can cause oil consumption if they are bad.

does the engine have any blowby to the point of moving/pulsating the oil fill cap you flip it upside down? And what was your compression #'s and at what altitude do you live? As altitude can vary compression #'s

No, no blow by like that. I live in Phoenix so a little over 1,000 above sea level. I did the compression test with the engine cold. Highest cylinder was 380 and the lowest was around 345

Thanks for the info farmert, when I get ready to pull the trigger on injectors I will be calling Rosewood.
HA, my spare core support I found in Mesa in the parts yard. 85204 is mi barrio...hell, I think we discussed this before of me jammin to KUPD all the time
Watch out for those random-*** dust storms. Stuff is wild!
That's good engine compression is relatively ok, 390-420psi would be optimal.
The smoking could be caused by the wrong programing for the AB injectors, as for your oil consumption a bad injector might cause it as well. I would also inspect turbo shaft play and wetness on the outlet

no kidding? I’m born and raised in Phoenix, grew up in Maryvale. I’m by I17 and Greenway now. We just had our first Monsoon storm yesterday.
Oh boy, KUPD clowns on Maryvale all the time. Bret (one of the HMS hosts) has been out there last few Thursdays for the 'Operation Hydration' Long story why I have residency there.
First monsoon I saw was wild too and the saguaro...I lost it, flashback to days as a kid and Looney Tunes.

I was really curious to see the compression numbers, motor has 366k on it. I did check the shaft play before air take went back on, checked good. It is some A1 Cardone reman, don’t have much faith in it. But the outlet is dry.
It was down 2 quarts but to be honest I wasn’t diligent in checking the oil level frequently. So I couldn’t honestly say if it went through a quart per 1k miles. I have since topped off and will be checking more frequently. Before sinking money into the motor I wanted to see what compression numbers were. Need to tow some stuff up the hill towards Prescott, so I’ll keep on eye on the level.

when I was a kid it wasn’t bad, but it slowly evolved into the **** hole it is now. I’ve jammed many mornings to HMS!
HMS has read many of my emails on the air and my pal's. Real funny! They do reply to text messages also.
Those comp numbers are solid for nearly 400k. Mine are 180-360psi No 8 I believe ate part of my old turbocharger, now I have the SPturbo kit or whatever was recommended by z31 and others. 360* bearing upgrade and all that, I run a 1.0 A/R housing which helps with the manual trans. The smaller 0.8x was not available when I built my turbocharger or I would have chosen that, seems great for stock sticks or even 160s. Now KC offers tons of drop ins based on the S300, slick ****.
7/8 of the compression on mine all lies from 320-360. I bet I could get by just reringing No 8 and probably boost the compression 50-75psi, swap the piston if really messed up. FWIW, at near 400k you need a headjob. You are losing piles of power there and guaranteed compression loss as the heads are beat. Read my build thread to see how beat my heads are from when I did valve springs.
I read through your build, I even went with Mark F. efuel kit. I have a spare set of heads that I can send out to get machined, but then I get the “while I’m in there” thinking and get stuck with analysis paralysis.
