Did some playing around. Fixed the cracks in the dash. Then covered with 4 way stretch vinyl using DAP Weldwood adhesive. Still got a few wrinkles because the DAP adhered instantly. Time will now tell if it holds up to the heat here.
I used Polyvance Padded Dash filler for the cracks. It set up just like body filler though, so I may have done a little overkill buying that. I just did a search for 4 way stretch vinyl on Amazon. It was 14.99 a yard and took 2 yards to get the length needed.
After the fact I wonder if the corners would have come out better if I had cut the fabric and made a seam behind the windshield post.
looks bitchin, read a few old threads on doing similar thing, ours needs some serious repairs first. would you happen to have any pictures of before and after repairs..before you covered it i mean.

Reason: went to public skool
Looking great, especially for a first attempt at something like that. I imagine my first attempt would have more waves than a lake in bad weather.
Think it would work on mine?
Yeah, probably not. Even if it did, it would probably be cheaper to replace the pad than to buy enough filler to do those cracks. By the time I ground out the bad, I think there would be more filler than original pad.
Still interested to see how it holds up. It's a a no-go for the F-100, but I've got other projects that it might work well on.
I'm just now getting around to focusing on the dash (seat is next). Did you need to pull the dash in order to do the fix? If so, how difficult is it?

Yes, I had to pull the dash pad. It isn't hard, just time consuming. Had to pull the glove box liner, instrument cluster, and already had the radio out to be replaced. Not sure if that had to come out or not for the dash pad. There are about 15 nuts holding the pad on. I think mine were 5/16 inch. If you pull either the liner or cluster you can see some of those nuts. Not positive on the count, but it was between 13 and 16. I had to leave a few nuts barely on long enough to tap the pad loose. 54 years of cooking there had it stuck a little bit.
