Has anyone had success in repairing a dash pad? If so, what did you use? Will Bondo Glazing putty work? My dash pad isn't cracked but has several teeth marks from a German Shepherd and a little faded on top.
I think anything that hardens is doomed to popping loose.
Mine had no teeth marks, but had cracks. I used a full molded dash cover, it's made of a plasticized like rubber like material. They included silicone adhesive but it fit so well, like just popped into place, I didn't use the stuff. I already had a full carpet cover that I then placed on top, but that molded one fit so well, I almost didn't. Might still remove it?
I had one crack in a '67 Chevelle long ago, so I pulled it out and covered it in black vinyl seat cover material that was textured, it came out really well. Was easier getting it out to wrap.
That "SEM" stuff does work well, they have their own primers and prep stuff. Used it on a leather and vinyl Corbin seat on a Gold Wind trike, to change a seat from magenta to black. It's still holding up 9 years later.
Mine had a few cracks but the vinyl wad raised up on each side of the V cracks.
I took and cut down the raised vinyl and made a small valley like groves
Filled with bondo and sanded.
Problem I had was after painting I could see the smoothe spots where it had been sanded.
Never could get the texture to match.
Yea, 10 4 on the SEM paint. Love it just not the $$$ it costs. Guess we get what we pay for..
Bottom line is,,, bought new pad and installed.

Was trying to avoid buying a new one because of $$$.
I don’t think that’ll be the problem. The problem will be finding the right tan! :-)
In this sitch..close would be acceptable to me. I do have access to a auto body/paint supply shop that can mix and package paint in spray cans, I'm thinking that they might be my best bet.
