Ignition actuator rod replacement

My ignition actuator rod broke so I took the steering column apart to replace it. I’m ready to start putting it all back together but the portion of the system that rides in the lower part of the steering column won’t come out. I’m trying not to break it pulling it out but I can’t figure out what it is hanging up on.

Any help is appreciated.

This part won’t come out of the slot it rides inside.

The steel lever is what’s holding it in. That lever locks into the shift tube so the truck can’t be put in gear with the key off. It’s showing in the top picture. Knock the pin out and the lower actuator will come out.

I was hoping it wouldn’t be that but had a feeling. I pulled it out and got everything back together. Truck is running again and back to being a daily driver.

I appreciate the help.
