Rear end pricing
Curious if anyone has had this done recently and can giv em an idea of costs....I checked with my local trans shop and they are talking $2500 plus just for starters...Sounds high since they rebuilt my C6 with a shift kit and upgraded pan last year for $1100
A new 3rd member is ~ $1500--If your is completely broke. Mine had a cracked pinion bearing support, so I need a new 3rd member.
New bearings installed on the axle shafts.
New brakes.
Seems you could do it your self for less that $2500. It all depends on what you mean by "beef up"

By beef up I meant MAYBE a higher gear ratio(not even sure what mine is currently)...But really if I could just get ti converted to a "posi" setup that would likely work fine.
I just finsihed install on a newer engine that has ZERO issues roasting the tire..unfortunately only one spins. LOL

So this doesn't replace the gears, it just turns the open diff into a limited slip?
Sorry to sound ignorant..normally I wouldn't mess with this type of thing, but the shop pricing is crazy. LOL
Beside a 2 wheel peel what are you looking to do with RPM lower it for highway driving or raise it for stop and go driving?
I have set up a few axles that were not Ford 9" but I was thinking of changes to my rear axle 9" I would buy a full center.
Then all you have to do is slip the axles out, pop the old center out and pop the new one in, slip the axles back in fill with oil and break the new gears in and done.
I just remembered might look into a lunch box locker as it is a quick way to get both wheels to spin

Before you do that though, you need to decide if you want to rplc your gearing for lower gears (higher numerically) for more "power" or go with lower numerically gears for economy..
What are the specs on your truck.. 2wd/4wd engine/trans/gears/tires and what are you looking to gain... if just both rear tires locking up, then all you have to do is add the Trutrac to your current 9"

I am not really caring about gas mileage or highway speeds...this truck is just my project truck for around town and doing burnouts. LOL
I dropped in a decently built '89 5.0 from a Stang which is making decent power but in N/A form I would like to have more gear in it...BUT my future plans involve potentially adding a small turbo to it(way future for now) so I don't want to go with too steep of a gear.
For now this engine roasts the tire without even really trying so the gear(which I still have to figure what it is) is fine fo rnow, I just don't want to look like a goob doing one wheel burnouts. LOL...childish I know LMAO
