Called the local dealer for a replacement (Motorcraft FT=105, they tell me its an obsoleted part number so they cannot order or even suggest a replacement!
Any one recommend a suitable high-quality alternative brand?TIA!
I don’t think I’ve dropped a transmission pan since around 1998 or 1999 though.
knowing what Mark confirms to be true, I have just done fluid exchanges since the early 2000’s. Fresh fluids every 60,000-100,000 depending on use and my transmission all see well over 200k before I stop driving the car.
the only exception to this might be the Subaru I currently daily. I changed it at 120k and again at 200k. But at 240k it’s starting to flare the 2-3 shift of the fluid is below 60 degrees. But still going at 240k, I just feather the gas on the shift until it warms up. I might swap the fluid to Valvoline max life which is a little thinner (closer to mercon LV in viscosity) since it seems to like the thinner fluid.
But with a dead air conditioner, now, I’m debating on just letting it go. Just saves miles on the nicer cars.
