You're lucky it's not a '98 where the entire dash would have to come out to get to the plenum, to get to the core.

LOL. Ya, I had to change the core on my 88 Mustang 3 times - what PITA - as the dash had to come out of that. I feel for you guys that have to go through that.

Heater core was stupidly easy - pull the 2 hoses off, removed 4 small screws under the passenger side of the dash, took the cover off, and it popped right out.

I haven't driven the truck for any length of time, but it seems to have helped it quite a bit. I might go grab a fresh radiator cap just to make sure the system is pressurizing correctly, but I think I've fixed the problem.
