I'm doing a passenger side slip on rocker panel on my white 2009 E-250. The PO did repairs to the driver's side and used some kind of textured paint which I imagine would cover minor imperfections in the repair and looks really good. I've read suggestions to use spray on truck bed liner but this looks thinner than I imagine bed liner would be (although I know nothing about bed liner).
Does anyone have suggestions for what kind of textured aerosol spray paint to use?
While I'm asking for help, I'd appreciate any comments, tips or suggestions on installing the slip on rocker.
Rocker Guard is the name of the product. First used on Volvos. Make the paint look bumpy. Bit it's there to stop rust. If you're painting over it get the stuff compatible with your paint from the supply place. If you're just doing a quick job they sell it in cans. Rubberized and the other kind.
That looks similar to what I'm looking for but I was hoping for white so it's one and done. Looks like Rocker Guard is only black, gray and clear.
I think you can spray on the rock guard and 2 hours later do the paint if you use the Dupli Color system. There may be other brands in white. And the paint supply shop may be able to mix you a tin in your color match. If you have an automotive paint place open to the public. But I think the 2 step is your best bet. For quality.
I'm not as much looking for the protection (although that's a plus) as I am looking for a quick and dirty coating that will hide some of my body work imperfections. It's a work truck that isn't beautiful, never will be and isn't expected to be!

Ahhhh. I like using Krylon Farm Implement paint. That stuff is the best machinery and equipment paint ive used. Stops rust. Minimum prep. Cheap. Do the rock guard and Krylon both for like 50 bucks. Rock guard is like 12 bucks and krylon about the same 2 cans of each. Harbor freight probably has rock guard stuff. Or Amazon. The farm implement paint can pile and creep and it's able to penetrate into areas to stop rust. And it looks great and last really well in the sun.
