Not sure if anyone else is seeing this but I am starting to see parts (reproduction) for our trucks are getting harder to find which I believe is probably Tariff related. I have been trying to find a gas cap and hubcaps for mine along with several other parts. My goal has been to order everything from the same site to save on shipping but I have been unable to.
Dennis carpenter in particular seems to be seeing a drop in inventory.
Also, I only ordered 2 hubcaps several years ago as I wasn't sure how that would fit on the back. That was a mistake. They are $90-$130 if you can find them now.
This topic comes up every so often. Parts inventories come and go as perceived demand justifies. One can speculate as to tariffs, demographics, the economy, or any hot topic of the hour to how those perceived demands are impacted.
FYI, the fuel cap isn't anything super special... You can grab a Gates 31623, MotoRad MGC-23, Motocraft FC-23...
You might want to give Bob Drake Industries a try. (bobdrake.com; (800) 221-3673) He is licensed by Ford Motor Company to manufacture and distribute Ford Trademark Products. I have Bob Drake reproduction outside rear view mirrors with Ford logo on them and a reproduction locking gas cap for my gas filler neck. My tank is still behind the seat. The reproductions are recognized by the ISCA as accurate for original parts replacements. His product line mainly caters to early Ford cars and pickups (1932-48), but they reproduce and stock many of the parts on the F-100's through 1972 which are carry overs from the early trucks, eg. gas caps, tailgate hinges, etc. Maybe a little pricey, but definitely top quality.
Thanks. I went to his website earlier and he didn't have anything for my year and an F250. Willl call Monday and see if he has something not on the website.
