I eat lunch in my truck often and would like to watch a show on my sync 4 screen. I’ve seen these magic boxes and others advertise it will play Netflix, prime video, etc.
Anyone have any luck with any particular brand that is simple to work and also allows for the movie to play full screen?
Magic Box 3.0 is pretty pricey compared to others so hoping someone with real-world experience can chime in. Thanks in advance.
Haven't used anything like that because I have no interest in it...but there's a new feature on some trucks (my '25 has it) where it actually already has a Youtube app installed on it. I will likely NEVER use it but it's there and can be used when the truck is in park.
I plug the Dashlinx into a USB port in the center console. After a second or two, the Dashlinx takes over the center screen. I then plug a Roku stick into the Dashlinx USB port. The Roku has a RF remote instead of an IR remote so it works with the console closed and everything hidden.
I opted for the elite car box 4.0. Should arrive next week and will see if it’s as simplistic as they say…. Plug it in, allow it to hotspot to my phone, and it has all the apps (Netflix, etc) on it to play while I eat lunch. To be continued…..
I’ve had the original Magicbox and now have the 2.0 version. The first one was very clunky, the 2.0 works pretty well. I run YouTube TV and MLB constantly. If the 3.0 is as big of an upgrade from 2.0 as 2.0 was from the original, I bet it works great. FYI, what makes it really shine is putting a data only sim in it. Sharing the internet from your phone isn’t ideal. Requires manual intervention. With a dedicated sim, it’s seamless. 17 F350 with sync 3.
So far the 4.0 box is working great. I use the onboard AT&T modem and it auto connects without issue. Streams in HD and operates just like I needed it to. Only a couple days of use but currently I would recommend.

Works well for my needs. They tell you to unplug it if you are not using it as it's basically a computer, even though your USB plug times out after the truck is off. My only complaint is sometimes on YOUTUBE, it's hard to get the search button to depress in the upper right corner. I don't know if this is an app issue or the 12' screen but after a few quick taps, it usually takes. All in all, it's great for my needs.
You will need to disable your phone from CarPlay and just bluetooth to this device as it puts CarPlay on the screen for you. Good luck
