Hello,
I have to pull the engine on my 1983 F250, it has the 4.9l inline 6. It is leaking oil and coolant from bell housing area and through some research I have narrowed it down to most likely be a bad rear main seal and a bad freeze Plug on the back of the engine. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to bolt on the lifting chain, or however I'm supposed to attach it to pull the engine out.
Loop the chain through the exhaust manifold on the rear pass side and find a bracket or use a long bolt through a chain link and put the other end of the chain on the front driver's side. It would be best to take the carb off before setting it up and lifting it out.
I hope you took pictures of how all the wires and ground straps go... ?
Oh I can help him with the ground straps no problem and most likely any other wires but you are right should take pictures when it was coming apart.

I pulled the transmission with the motor, and used the middle transmission mount holes. I pulled the bolts out and put them back in the same holes backwards thru chains. I used the alternator mounting hole into the block on the left front. And then one of the AC mounting hole into holes on the right lower side. It is more work but safer to remove the core support before you remove the motor. Take lots of pics. Wiring, vacuum, bolt patterns for each accessory.
