Working on the harness under hood on a 1966 and there is this wire that I am having a hard time with. It is heavy gauge, black with red tracer. One small ring and one large ring, the large ring also has a smaller black with red tracer wire coming from it that has been cut. Any help with where this goes and where the cut end would go?
Doesn't look like an original wire. My guess is it is a ground that someone added. The wiring diagram manual doesn't show grounds very well, but you need good grounds from the engine to the frame and the engine to the cab.
thanks, I could not identify it in my wiring diagrams. If anybody else would like to chime in, please let me know. It looks like something that was purpose made, not like somebody made it.

I knew I saw that black with red tracer line before, but I didn't want to speak up until I confirmed my suspicions. It is part of the engine bay harness (on my '65 F100 at least) that goes from the alternator along the radiator support and ends up near the voltage regulator and horn relay that's attached near the Driver's Side radiator. I tagged the big wire ends with "Engine Block Grnd" and the smaller end with "Grnd". I'm assuming that I meant Alternator Grnd. It was so obvious to me at the time that I didn't put a better description. Go Figure... Run a wire from your clipped piece to the horn relay and use a sheetmetal screw to attach it to the radiator support where it will also connect with other grounds (I'd like to say horn ground, but I'm not 100% on that). One thing is for sure, my thick wire section is contorted and the insulation is hard as a rock suggesting that it's been subjected to a lot of heat over the years.
