Hello, I bought a used 2019 F-350 CC LB SRW. The TPMS light is on despite the used car dealer replacing the sensors and the remote is totally ignored.
I asked about this awhile back on another forum and a person said because both were RF related it was likely the antenna. He said an antenna repair fixed his, and his CAT mechanic had done the same repair a week earlier for a different customer, cost, $100.
I talked to two different Ford service advisors about the problem and they both said the same thing, "bring it in and we will program it for you" and it will cost you hundreds of dollars. They didn't want to hear that it possibly wasn't a programming problem.
Further, they said if the TPMS sensors were replaced with anything but genuine Ford parts, they would make me replace them with Ford parts before they would even try to program them. I have no idea what brand of TPMS sensors were installed, but I bet they weren't Ford.
If CAT mechanics are familiar with this problem and are fixing them, then why don't the Ford guys know what is going on? Is there a shop manual troubleshooting section on this? A service bulletin perhaps? Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what was the solution?

Ford dealer will only want to use ford parts, so skip the dealer and find an independent shop.

What are the odds an independent shop can diagnose and fix an RF problem? If Ford is clueless, then wouldn't an independent shop be even less likely to figure out what is going on?

Not necessarily. It depends on the dealer(s) you're working with, and the people they employ. Some have good techs, others don't. Mine is pretty decent though sometimes they take a bit to figure something out.
A LOT of independent shops that have been around a while have a pretty good procedure they follow for diagnostics. Startup ones are hit or miss.

I have a 2019 F350 CC 6.7 4x4.
About two years ago a had a flat which was repaired and reinstalled. On the way home I noticed my TPMS was on. I ended up following this procedure which essentially recalibrated all four TPMS. Didn’t cost a thing so perhaps worth a try on yours. I didn’t use the “tool” which is essentially a magnet. I let air out of the tires to activate the sensors.

I just found the forum rules that state a person has to have been a member for 10 days and have written FIVE posts before the option is made available to use the private message option. In my 50+ years of using forums, I have never seen such a rule.
I would rather not post my VIN publicly. Guess I could "make up" four more posts about stuff just to meet their five post rule, but that seems ridiculous.
Thanks Mike....this isn't a programming problem. This is also affecting the remotes. Both remotes are programmed to the vehicle and it doesn't recognize either one. Meaning, it knows about them and they are stored in memory, but that is why I suspect it is a RF/receiver issue. Even when they replaced and programmed the TPMS sensors, the truck still didn't know about them.

After more research, it seems the RTM is behind the headliner. Almost everyone is finding the problem is the power wire from the BCM to the RTM. It is mind boggling how many people are having the exact same problem but two different Ford service writers at two different dealers said it was simply a programming issue.

Finally, a user on here found and fixed his problem. Same story on that forum thread. Multiple people with the same problem, each going to Ford and Ford failing to fix it. Took a user to find and fix the problem. Seems you either need to be a CAT mechanic or a Ford customer to fix it.
Wishing their was a YT video showing how to access the RTM which is supposed to be in the headliner above the rear passenger window. They routed a new power wire from there to behind the front passenger kick panel. At least that gives me something to start with.

Found another forum topic with another person saying his was the power wire....seems more and more like this is very common. MUST be a service bulletin.

what is mind boggling is it seems many people have this problem and they all fix it by repairing the power wire going to the RTM from the BCM. Shocking that a CAT mechanic knows about and fixes the problem but two Ford dealerships won't pursue a wiring problem and insist it is a programming problem.
I know the TPMS and keys are programmed property yet the dealers ignore that fact.
