Half of my instrument cluster is not working, the rpm, speedometer, the engine temperature and the odometer are not working. All the other gauges are working fine. My ODB reader gives me a P0462 Fuel level sensor 'A' circuit low. I'm thinking about changing my fuel pump (so the level sensor will change as well). I just find it hard to believe that this will fix my problem.
Vehicle 2004 Ford E-150
I checked all fuses, changed the instrument cluster, checked the wires but nothing comes up.
Is there anyone that experienced the same problem before and knows a way to fix this?
This is my instrument cluster right now
Thanks.

I think the communication network is broken. if you have a scan tool (Forscan, Autel etc) connect and see if you can read data PIDs for the missing cluster information. Unfortunately you may have to take this to a shop if you don't have the network tools. YouTube has videos on how to check network wiring with a voltmeter.
The service manual is going to have you remove the cluster and ohm out the wires back and forth from the VSS
Of course this would be after verifying no VSS signal to the cluster connection
Might just be a bad connection, might need a tach or a new cluster
I'd be deep into a service manual at this point
Pretty easy to check the tach signal at the rear of the cluster at the same time
You have a bad connection, if you are lucky, as those clusters are damn expensive!
If you look at the electrical diagrams on the link I provided, you will see all signals go into the cluster microprocessor. The fuel level seems to be the only discreet value input where the others appear to come off the communication network.
You can measure the fuel sensor voltage and, if the sending unit is accessible, verify the voltage changes with the float level.
You said you changed the instrument cluster (new or used?). If the fuel still did not read and all other items were not working there could be a problem with power getting to the cluster. Lots of possibilities and it takes some electrical troubleshooting skill to track these elusive problems. I would start by studying the diagrams and verify as many inputs into the cluster as possible....starting with power AND ground connections.
