97 Explorer Limited 60,0000 Kilometers. Brakes feel mushy when cold. Dealer says the problem is pre mature ABS. Dealer says need to replace hubs. Confused what hubs have to do with ABS. Can anyone comment?
Many thanks.
you might just have air in the brake system which is why you get mushy brakes....but the hubs have nothing to do with abs, its for 4x4, in fact when your 4x4 is engaged you dont have abs,
I had very mushy brakes on mine.
The reason was stuck brake pads at the rear calipers. They really was stuck, which made them bend instead of following the piston travel. The piston had to travel too much, and this made the pedal deep.
Check your pads for free movement, and eventually grind away where it is too tight.
