Mystery radiator connection

I just wondered what or where did the lower hose connection go to.
the hose under the radiator cap goes to the expansion tank I know that.
but the lower fitting is a direct connection the the pressurized section of the radiator..
and answers would be good …thankyou

Nope. As shown in the picture..

It goes to the upper port on the throttle body. That says with E4OD but I don’t know if the trucks I got that steel hose from all had an E4OD’s or if some only had HD cooling.

yes,i forgot to type when I posted that above, im about to pass out lol.. but yeah I was going to say the OP needs to know if he has E4OD or not, if not it needs to be plugged, if its an E4OD, then to the carb.
I think the 4.9 uses it in the heater core hose because of the cap being on the opposite end of the radiator so its shorter trip, and based on how the water pump is the one pipe and the t stat housing the other .. probably chose for that reason, plus the throttle body on the v8 sits a lot higher than the i6 so it may be just related to whats in the highest point of the cooling system

That pipe/hose is used to bleed the air out of the cooling system. By dumping the air to the highest part of the radiator, over time, the air is bled out. Mine [5.8/E4OD] comes from the throttle body. I have recently bypassed the throttle valve.

and a often cause of gurgling is having the heater core hoses swapped, because it disrupts the bleeding.
I saw the TSB and then looked at my hoses one day and went "yup.. when i did my water pump they got put on backwards .lol":

Well, it’s funny. You should say that because I own one lit Geo Metro and the previous owner put something in the radiator to seal a leaking head gasket. Now we did fix it and we did flush the cooling system. I did it myself. But every now and again little chunks of that break, free and block the heater. So about every six months, what I do is I swap the heater hose is going into the heater core the other way around and then for a few months, it works perfectly until it slows down very gently. Then I swap them back around again, so I get you.

You might as well put a piece of cardboard in front of your radiator.
You have now successfully restricted air flow.
Don't mess around with the air flow.

i ran it and let it idle for 45 minutes to see what would happen..
the temperature was bang on what it was with the original radiator.
even though this radiator is from a 7.5 liter and now it’s in 5 liter.

Correct, I think that was mentioned in your other post "FATTER RADIATOR", they are the same radiators.

The thermostat regulates the temperature. The radiator's job it to shed the heat. I would expect, with a properly designed system, the temperature would not change.

a pusher fan needs to be in front of the condensor
The fan in the center is a puller fan , it will only interupt the air flow through the radiator
But you likely have enough flow through it because its large and the core support/openings are big and its a brick so the air pushes through, but now with more resistance
If its mounted backwards it will fight the radiator fan AND be turbulent

its a novel idea but even if it was a pusher it needs to be able to pull air readily, youre just gonna have high amp draw
