I’m currently rebuilding my np435 transmission for my 1980 ford f-350. I’m almost done but when I measure the clearance between the 3rds speed and syncronizer it’s like way out of spec(.12 when spec is .070-.095) i want to add shims but can’t find any anywhere is there anything else I can do or anywhere I can find shims in stock?
Who did you get the rebuild kit from and I am guessing you checked with them?
Who else have you checked with and is it they done have in stock but can get them or are they N/A as there is a difference between the 2.
Also if they dont list the shims in their sites I would give a call just to make sure they dont have them and ask where you might get some from.

Sometimes we just have to order and wait for them to show up.
You can try to google for them and give a call around but if they have them I would just order and wait.
Goood luck

It must be something with the NP435 as my 3rd / 4th shift is not happy but I bought the transmission used so who knows what it had been thru?
Now I have a BW T18 that this NP435 replaced that is really bad as it has chipped gears and no syncros and why it was replaced.
It is also how I bough the truck.
