I am planning for a 4x4 install on an E350 van. From what I learned. A 2005 and up coil spring F250/350 is the front axle of choice. so; are there differences in different year front axles? dana 60s? brake rotor size? etc. Thanks for any replies/irealize this is a bit off topic.

From what I have read over the years... I think the "prefered choice" by owners is more the Coil Spring System than a particular axle. Apparently the rigs have a smoother ride with the coil springs.
Solid axle, I believe is considered the strongest.
I was wondering about rotor sizes over the years. Were the brakes upgraded over the years. i am trying to plan for wheel size. I have plenty of 16' and dont know if I can use them or not.

If using ‘05+ front suspension, then no, after the switch to coil sprung fronts on the 4x4 trucks the brakes got bigger and minimum wheel diameter moved to 17”. The wheel mounting surface also moved outboard about 1.75” at each corner, so the earlier wheels would stick out that much from stock position.
