Lifelong Excursion Journey

I'm new to the excursion owner world, my family has owned plenty of excursions throughout the years and now I have one as well.

I have a Green 2001 7.3l turbo diesel Ford excursion 4x4 limited with 264,000 miles as of June 2025,

I have named this Truck FjordJungar, Do with that what you will.

now there's a bunch of stuff I don't know about excursions in general, and to add onto that definitely not about my new modified excursion,

The modifications in the excursion to my knowledge and the previous owners knowledge are a bank's power tuned engine and transmission,

A Banks power control module,

A Banks power cold air intake,

Rancho shock's

A three inch country lift, in my opinion i think it's a leveling kit instead and one of the previous owners didn't know the difference? I'm not sure.

It has a aftermarket sway bar, I'm not sure from where.

It has oversized 34" by 12.5" tires with aftermarket rims and absolutely terrible rubber tires

There's a few other aftermarket things that I'll add on later, as I work more on my truck I'll learn more about it and so will you as I update this thread along the way.

I bought my excursion on Monday from my brother who bought it a couple months ago from the third owner with new f250 mirrors that were already mounted but never hooked up via the wiring.

I'm trying to get the wires hooked up and after researching online I have a pretty good idea what I was supposed to do, but upon trying I discovered my door in my excursion doesn't have anywhere where I can plug in my mirrors. I know upon you wonderful people inspecting this thread you'd probably find an easy solution as maybe just buying a new adapter and using that to attach the mirrors to the truck.

Can any of you please look at some of the details I provided and help me fix this problem I seem to have, thank you very much in advance.
What Im holding in my hand is the mirror connector. The extra adapter plugs hanging out is for my speaker and something else which I dont know.

Where I assumed would be the plug in for the mirror is not there entirely, and theres no where to plug it in on the inside as well.

The one Im holding plugs into my speaker, it also plugs into the other black plug in. I dont know why or what it does. I also dont know what the white one is for, but with a little of thinking Im maybe assuming its the original mirror plug in for the old excursion mirrors and my current f250 mirrors simply require a different adapter.

Heres the actual mirror itself.

You will need an adapter like this. It connects these aftermarket mirrors to the earlier 2000-2001 model year Excursions.

As stated above I assume you have an 00 or 01 Ex, all you need is the mirror adapter. That white round plug is for the original mirrors, if you are looking to make the signal and running lights work look in the sticky thread at the top of the forum. Good luck

Right, thanks for the assistance as I probably am going to try and get the signal and running lights up and operating, I watch a few videos of some guys doing the same.

What year is your truck?
99-01 have round connector (looks like what you have). requires adapter
02+ have rectangular connector. no adapter needed
either way, hook it up using the adapter as discussed above. This will enable full functionality for the mirror (heat/movement/blinkers) EXCEPT running lights. To add running lights, you can tap off from 2 locations.
1. behind headlight switch. solid brown wire. I typically run from this location to the drivers door.
2. drivers sill plate, wire harness running to rear of truck. Solid brown wire. I typically run from this location to the passenger door. Under the carpet.

Right, it is infact a 2001 7.3l diesel limited trim with tuned engine and trans as well as a bank's power control module, those are all synced together perfectly by banks power themselves, the previous owners seemed to do a bit of wiring work throughout the truck and they did put in the new mirrors but never attached them (my predicament above) did research a lot more into it and found all that out, I'm going to get a adapter sometime in the next week or more so, so if I bought an adapter that say's it comes with the blinker option connecting that to the white circle and black rectangle input ports should also give my mirrors operational blinkers?

all Excursions except the XLS (gov’t stripped model) were pre-wired with blinkers into the doors. For some reason the 00-01 model mirrors didn’t have that option. Despite the wiring being there.

Plug in the mirrors with the adapter and I’m 99% certain the blinkers will work

Post up a few pictures of the suspension, then we can determine if it’s a level kit or an actual lift kit and what type of kit, there are plenty of possibilities there.

I'll take some photos of the truck when I go to wire in the mirrors, I'll give y'all a warning about how rusty it is, in the future I'm definitely going to park it away and strip it down to the bones to cut off and reweld on new metal onto the body to fix all of it.

I'm also in the market for some all terrain tires that aren't as massive as the Ones I have now, any suggestions with what brand and/ size tires I should go for?

Also after driving the truck for another week I've made note that my current fuel pump is not new or aftermarket, and is definitely worn out and needs replacing, my budget is a little low for the pump but are there any long lasting aftermarket diesel fuel pumps for the 01 Ex, that can keep up with my cold air intake and eliminate acceleration lag?

Photos of basically the entire truck

Welp. Here goes, I took a ton of photos of pretty much everything I could think of. If any of you can provide some more details of anything note worthy due to my inexperience with these absolutely beautiful beasts, it would definitely help me out and would be most appreciated, anything that I haven't listed as aftermarket that upon inspection of the photos is infact not regular for an stock excursion, if I have a major problem with some of the truck, if anything is mechanically unwanted or needs fixing, etc. thank you all kindly.

She’s a little crusty. That’s unfortunate. For the amount of lift, measure from center of hub to apex of wheel arch.
Front is 23-24” factory height.
Rear is 24” factory height.

I imagine you’ll be ~26”
-front axle sway bar needs rubber isolator. Probably links as well.

-Front Axle: looks like factory leafs with 3 Add-A-Leafs added

-Rear Axle: factory G codes and block AND 2” lift block (smaller one without ledge). I hate when people stack blocks. Not ideal setup.

Alright thank you. So do you recommend I unstack the blocks or leave them as is for the time being?
