I think that my 94 E4OD in my F150 4x4 just took a dump. Has been hard shifting, shuddering for a while. Well tonight after 40 mins of driving, smoke starts coming from hood and ATF is all over. Can I just swap an E4OD out of a 95 or 96 model with the TC and everything? I'm thinking of just buying one out of the junkyard if they can warrenty it. So wil everything hook up and what not just like the 94?
The 96 and later have all the upgrades from Ford. As the E4OD is prone to problems, make sure you have a tranny shop install all the upgrades if you get one older than 1996.
There's a difference, older ones had diodes in the solenoid pack and newer ones have them in the PCM, or vice versa, can't recall. See if you can turn up anything searching for "E4OD diode solenoid pack"
