Hello from Georgia

Hello, I've been lurking on this forum since my decision to purchase a new Ford truck. I currently have a 25 XL STX on order with a production date of June 16. My last experience with Ford was an 03 Crown Victoria who's 4R70W let go at 100,000 miles almost exactly despite servicing it religiously. Needless to say this left a bad taste regarding Ford for a long time. I still have my 351C with closed chamber 4V heads out of my wrecked Mach 1 that I hope to put into a Model A some day so still bleed a little blue.

Hello and welcome! Sorry to hear the bad fortune with your Crown Vic! I've owned mostly Fords for 31 years and have had good success with most of them. Hope your truck helps restore some blue oval faith!

welcome to this site, 100k on a 4r70 automatic was about the normal miles we saw at our shop, some went way more some less, how long a auto trans lasts really depends on the drivers,
good luck with the new truck,

Thank you for the welcome. Currently running the service department of a small Ford dealership so I'm hoping to contribute to members here where I can.

I once had a 1998 CVPI with 250,000 miles on it on the original transmission. Big BIG flares on 4-3 downshifts! It had a hard life and was really tired, but still working! I agree, it usually has to do with how they were treated, but some of it is effectively luck that's probably driven by parts and assembly quality.

Welcome aboard!

Mine started neutralling out in 1st and would just free rev until it engaged, then shift fine. Bought it with 66k, installed a larger finned aluminum B&M pan with a drain plug and serviced it twice. Local transmission shop suspected the accumulator was going out but couldn't be sure until he disassembled it. Oh well, nothing compares to a C6 and I know ahead of time what I'm getting into with the 10R100
