Odd Combinations

I am wondering if anyone has what I consider to be a radical set up such as I. We, my wife and I, bought a '56 F100 last summer. We already had a '69 Plymouth roadrunner and a '55 Bel Air and drive them very often and almost daily. My wife, being the master gardener she is, wanted an old truck to make trips to the nurseries and wanted me to pick one. I opted for the fat fenders Ford because, in my opinion, they are the best-looking trucks ever produced. Anyway, the truck we chose has a Plymouth Volare' front clip, a Chevrolet 350/350 engine, trans combination, an AMC Pacer rear end, and a Cadillac steering column. I will add the fact this truck drives like a dream. What unoriginal set-ups do you guys have?

Nice, not too unusual. The Volare clip is very popular as is the 350/350. Sounds like it should be the perfect truck for you. have fun with it
You'll find we have all types here, everything from all original to over the top darkside mashups.
I'm running a 49 F1 with a 500 Caddy and TH400. Toyota power steering, Oldmobile MC with Ford power booster, Pontiac dash insert, GMC bed floor, chevy seats, Mercury trim, Chrylser tailights, 9" Ford rear, Packard air cleaner and dash *****... and the list goes on.

Wow! You set up sounds really nice and makes mine seem almost normal and outdated!

LOL, don;t let the descriptions fool you. My truck is pretty rough, It's definitely not a show queen. Interior is mostly... well... isn't. No insulation, or carpets, no door liners, All my glass is cracked. the truck is a myriad of different colors, etc. In short, I'm not afraid to park at Wal-Mart. But, its runs great, is really dependable and I'd have no qualms about jumping in it and driving across country.
Here's a few pics of the poor old thing; hauling block, hauling engines, out for a cross country drive, etc

Looks like everyone here enjoys those fat fender Fords as much as we do. For us, the only way to enjoy them is to drive them often.

So I did a one off frame, narrowed 9 inch, and 10 years of fabrication so far. I am probably 2 months from paint & body. Only part original is the cab shell. Everything else is modified from front to back. Running a built ZZ502 crate motor that was modified with new upgraded components. So it is somewhat odd indeed, but retained to 53 shape.
