An old school thread
I have been hunting for some fender flares that aren't dated and clunky...no such luck. As is tradition, I decided to make my own. The front is about ready to print, still designing the rear.
I ran some simulations in mud and on gravel...came up with a few interesting ideas.
Here's the front.
That is the profile/outer shell. It will be a solid piece for final build.
Here's the prototype on the OBS
Hit the angles I wanted. Waiting on some bullet proof (no really) filament for the final product. I'll be using Copoly Nylon Carbon Fiber. About 3/8" will stop a 9mm at very close range. Should make for a pretty robust flare. We shall see.
Hope everyone has an awesome and safe holiday. Check in every now and then. I have some very fun projects coming.

I let them run for about a 500 mile trip. Mud, gravel, sand were used respectively. My original design was failing in weird ways, so I decided to reshape the spine. The main contours are very similar, this new design is slightly less bulky, yet retains the protection I was looking for.
Here is V2
Time to figure out some mounting options.
Happy Saturday.
