It’s been a couple of years but these guys did great work at a reasonable price.
Ditto
I haven't had anything of mine personally done there, but, as I work in El Paso quite a bit I've been the transport guy for a lot of my car buddys in the Albuquerque area. They do an excellent job AND they understand that some of these pieces are irreplaceable. Very friendly and easy to work with.
A Chevy buddy was trying to restore some factory chrome big block valve covers. The factory chrome covers weren't highly polished or finished. They were only polished along the tops leaving the sides kind of dull and all of the spot welds were very visible. Most rechromers will polish the entire piece and want to smooth out everything. They worked with my buddy to recreate the factory's fast paced production line polishing.
A place in Cuba Missouri called Highline Plating. Funny cats but they do a good job and as reasonable as reasonable gets to do chrome. Have used them several times. They might be able to work out something on shipping.
I had a guy on the east side of Erie pa. He did the vent window frames on my 68 mustang. Excellent job.
highly recomended
John
Hey John - is this guy still doing chrome work? I have a few parts that I would like to have chromed, and it just happens that I live on the east side of Erie.
I'll dig through my business cards and get his number for you.
his name is Chris, did excellent work.
he has a, believe it or not, a train in pieces next door to his shop for a sheik in arabia.
I'll get back to you.
That's a pretty wide open question...I have had parts plated in Tijuana and various other cities with varying results. Here in Nashville there is a super-premium (read high $$$) called Advanced plating and there is another called Leonards (not so high $$$ but slow). Quality, schedule, and cost will drive your decision. I had a 53 F100 grille plated in TJ for $400. It sat in a shed in SoCal for a couple of years and was covered with rust without ever seeing a truck or the weather. I had it replated at Leonards for $700 and it looks great but it took months to get it done. Schedule wasn't important so I was happy to trade it for quality and lower price. I had an estimate from Advanced that started at $2,500 with a guarantee on time, cost, and quality but since I was not building a show truck the price was TOO high for me. Good luck...
Straighten a rear '51 -'52 rear bumper & show chrome was $834 a few years ago at space coast plating in Melbourne , Fla . While dropping it off chroming it was never mentioned . Sticker shock picking it up . It is still here in the shop . May have it sold in Oct
4 '51 - '52 glove box trim , 3 ash tray trim , 2 light switch attaching nut / bezels & 4 heater panel escutcheons was $974 last Nov. They charge you a % of total for hazmat waste . It is getting expensive to have parts plated .
