Does Ford have any kind of standard on their drain plug gaskets? My neighbor has a 03 F150 4.2 with a drip. I would like to get a gasket ahead of time. I mostly work on Ford so would like to have a few spares around. Ford 460, 7.3 diesel. A few Escapes. Is there any standards? I see some 14mm and 12mm gaskets and some kits that cover a few. I don't want to pay a lot for a bunch of stuff I will never use, But a kit sounds good. (Maybe with a couple drain plugs??? If they are kind of standard.)
It would probably be most efficient to browse Rockauto.com for oil drain plug gaskets for the respective year/make/model/engine vehicles you're talking about.
I did find some commonality between oil plug gaskets for a 2003 F-150 4.2 and a 1995 F-350 7.5 , but no commonality between these and a 2010 Escape.
It's amazing that the world hasn't gotten together and figured this one out like they did with oxygen sensors!
It would make it too easy. I just got the gasket set I posted above. Nice set, looks like it will cover most of the common stuff. The box is a little cheap. The gaskets were a bit mixed up from bouncing in shipping.
