Wiring problem

Im having a issue with my 97 Ford F-150 I've put 2 alternators on it and changed the 2 fuses on the fire wall put a new battery and a solenoid on it and fixed a ground on the passenger frame rail and I still have a issue with the battery gauge going from were it's supposed to be and it will drop down to 8 after a while going down the road and I started the truck a little bit ago to move it and the battery gauge was still at 8

Other than replacing parts, have you done any actual troubleshooting?

Observed the BATT/CHARGE light in the instrument cluster?

Checked the fuse in the I circuit (F16 or F19, I think)?

If the little battery symbol lights up when it happens it might be a charging problem. If it's just the needle it might be a gauge or cluster problem.

Measure voltage at the battery if you can, when the needle is at 8. Even though, the engine wouldn't run if the voltage was really 8. That would be a completely dead battery. It's probably a gauge or cluster problem.
