I have seen a lot of conflicting info on input seals, stacked or double lip etc. I had to pull my t-case and trans last week and getting ready to put it all back in again. When I drained the t-case I had atf in the gear oil, indicating an input seal leak. Then noticed seal popped out. What happened?
Did I some how pop it out during install or removal?
Is it supposed to be a different seal or two seals?
79 married to c6. I just had it out in January and resealed averything with a jbg kit.

I rebuilt my NP205 last summer, as far as I can tell, it had never been apart. It had stacked seals on the input but those were replaced with a double lip seal supplied in the rebuild kit. The master rebuild kit came from JBG like your seal kit.
My first thought seeing the seal popped out like that is a pressure build up inside due to lack of venting.
There's a vent on the rear output, did that get plugged somehow?
I did check and will double check the vent. I believe its on the bearing retainer for the rear output. Is that what you are referring to? I was thinking there is one on top of the case too, I just don't have it in front of me right now.
I removed the original vent, tapped the hole and added a barb fitting. I'll be attaching a hose and running it up into the engine bay to get the vent higher up.
I don't recall seeing a double lip seal in my JBG kit at all. I ordered a second kit from off road design. It looks like there is some in it. i just read some of your posts on another recent "green seals" thread, very helpful and similar experience as me. Thanks.
