Yes, a 460 will fit, but you will have to change everything from the radiator to the driveshaft. The easiest and likely the cheapest in the end would be to buy a reman 390. Just an aside, my father had a 1970 Ford F250 with a 460 engine when he bought it from the dealer. My brother inherited it when he died. My brother had it for about 8 months before he GAVE it away. It was kinda beat up, but worse, he said he could watch the fuel gauge go from full to empty while driving it short distances. He couldn't afford the gas it took.

totally possible. I have a 429 in my '66. (same 385 series engine as a 460)
can probably find a radiator pretty cheap that will work great, and then it's a matter of the engine mounts, maybe trans mount and drive shaft.
Check out my build thread HERE, scroll down on the first page for links to my engine mount install. I went with Ford OEM mounts for that engine; there are plenty of aftermarket options slightly cheaper but require some drilling into the crossmember. I was fortunate and had all of the holes from factory.
