On the exhaust side I believe others have used plugs with success. You can also use thin plates and gaskets. I’d still be concerned about an eventual coolant leak on the intake side. If you weld and the cooler fills with coolant, who cares. I still prefer the ghost option + valve. Just keep in mind doing this may set codes and possibly a CEL. Being on this forum and this discussion coming up, it seems hit or miss as far as the PCM setting codes. My ‘05 never did set codes, others have. Good luck.
I love your delete set up, it’s what I was leaning towards myself when I saw you say it on another thread. I was fortunate enough to find two stainless steel freeze plugs I’m going to shove into the egr and then I think imma use your McCaster idea to seal off the up pipe. I have a Bd up pipe with the flange but no scoop thankfully. Should all work together very well
Before ordering the core plug, check the diameter of the BP up pipe. Also, note that the core plugs I selected are much thicker than the common cup-shaped freeze plugs that were commonly used before.

core plug as in the up pipe block off plate? I got 35mm and 30mm to plug the EGR cooler like everyone recommended me to do, just in stainless instead of the usual steel plugs.
