Just wondering if it is normal for the battery to discharge over time (1-2 months) if the truck has not been used for that period of time? I don't use it that often anymore and when I charge the battery back up it starts right off and don't have any problems and seems to stay charged but if I don't use it for a while it seems to discharge over time, would the anti-theft feature cause it to drain down the battery in say 1-2 months?
Two months left connected? Yes, it will be kaput, I think these pull about 20-25ma once the BCM/GEM shut down. I drove one of my vehicles today after sitting for three weeks and the batt had enough *** to spin it over, barely. Weenie 90A alt with a four year old batt.
Down in South Texas four years is about all for the batteries, regardless of the supplier. Sure, they can still crank but fail load tests...1CCA or 100 I have no clue and the local stores will not tell ya.
Basically, I move the oldest to the least likely driven vehicle. Newest goes to the daily of same size. I really do not want to be caught with pants down when busy as time is money.
If you're going to leave it sit for months unused, you may want to consider getting a smart charger for it. The charger can be left connected while truck is not in use and will keep battery at capacity and protect it from deposit build up.
