I've though hard about a 5000btu window install and the only place that'd work is the rear window, but my back end is already in need of some weight reduction/shifting weight forward to front axle so I'm thinking of putting a 5000/6000btu portable unit in the closet up top beside my fridge. The side panel on the left of the closet is removable so all I'd need to do is find a unit that will fit in there then remove the panel and slide it in and then tack the panel back in place.
The closet divider will have to come out, but that's easy and I can get a dryer type vent for the exhaust and I've seen other installs using portable units where the intake air to the compressor is run from outside as well so it's not sucking the cool inside air back outside so a second dryer vent below the exhaust can be done fairly easily as well. I'd also need to run a drain line, but that's simple enough.
