I scanned the forum and couldn't find any other topic like mine and I can't beleive that only three Explorers have this problem please help. I have a 92 Explorer I bought it three+ years ago I love it but I have one nagging problem Power windows!! When I bought it all thewindows worked well. Then the front windows Driver and pass would go down but not up. I could hear the motor running . So I pulled the panels off and with help of the motor and my hand got the windows up. I took it to my mech he had a fix from napa that back then cost 40.00 per window to repair not bad. But now my rear windows are doing the exact same thing and a few guys at work who own 94 and 93 Explorers have the same problem but with the front windows . My mech is now out of business so I went to another mech he wants 120.00 per window to fix. Does anybody have a cheaper fix out there or is there a way to repair the current windows. I know the fix is a plastic gear that is replaced because it is worn or broken.
the window falls out of the track in the door when it gos down and when it goes up it hits the side of the track and jams
what you will have to do it take off the door panel and pull off the plastic next look at the front of the window when it is all the way down thier should be a track that fallows the window down see if the window is out of its track it it is it is easy to fix
at the bottom of the track thier is a nut that holds the track in place take it off and push the bolt in it will be able to move left and right next put the window half way up and pop the glass into the track and push the bolt back into the hole and put the nut back on make sure the window goes back up and down while you have the door apart oil up the window moving system and put the door back togather this simple fix took me over 2 hours to solve bc i though it was the motor but it was not until i saw it was out of the track good luck and hope it work for you
You can replace the motors with rebuilts. You can also repair the plastic gear. My drivers window is in need of a replacement gear and the two rear windows just groan like they are overloaded when they operate. Lubing the tracks with some silicone seemed to help for a short time but I am afrid I am going to have to take the doors apart. The windows are not out of their tracks.
My Windows, All Except The Drivers Side, On My 94 Does The Same Thing For The Last Maybe 3 Years. I Haven't Worried About It B/c I Have Another Car And Don't Drive The Truck As Much As I Used To But I Have Started Driving It AgaiN Recently And Wanted To Know If You WERE ABLE TO FIX Your Windows?
