Headlights Flashing

I have a 1977 f150 Ranger XLT. It at some point before my ownership had a painless wiring system installed but was still running stock headlights. I bought a halogen headlight conversion kit that was plug and play. After about 10-15 minutes of running the head lights will began to flash irregularly. Both lights will go on and off at the same time, sometimes it is a fast flicker and other times it fades in and out. Typically they will flash 5-10 times on one to two second intervals then they will stay on for several seconds then resume flashing. The running lights stay consistent and appear to have no other issues. I have read about issues similar to this with aftermarket LEDs, but wasn't sure if halogen lights would experience the same issue? Any ideas on how to correct this are welcomed. I appreciate everyone's time.

i am going to say you are overheating the circuit breaker in the headlight system which is causing the fleshing.

I agree with the idea about tripping the internal circuit breaker in the headlight switch.

As a test, unplug one headlight which will reduce the current draw by about half.
Compare wattages of new headlights to old headlights, to see what changed.

Yes I bet the wattage of the new lights is much higher. Are you sure they are legal for the road? A lot of lighting from China is not. If you want to keep running them, you will most likely have to install relays for the lights.

I was able to pull a head light and test it this weekend, it appears to be drawing too much power with both headlights for the switch. I was able to find a wiring harness that has relays, so hopefully I'll get it fixed soon. The headlight conversion kit I purchased is from Hella and is street legal, it just appears to pull more power than the stock lights. Once again thank you guys for the help!

The solution would be the relay system that routes full power to the lights and on uses the headlight switch for actuation on the relay. Search brighter whites, headlight relay system etc.

I finally got the new headlight harness installed. It makes a huge difference, lights no longer flash and are very bright. I ended up purchasing the day lighter extreme harness from wild horses. It was very easy to install and I only had to modify the ground wires to fit my rig. Once again thanks for all the help!
