As you may know from a previous post, the engine in my 95 F250 bent a rod. I found a donor van, 97 E350 with only 92k miles. I spent the weekend pulling it apart. I'm sure glad I don't have a van, as there is no room to lift the hoist. A come along assisted to drag it out. Taking the van to scrap after I get the parts I want to keep. I'll post updates when I get my old parts put on the new engine.
I've always liked the "Alcoa" style steel wheels on the E series duallies. Might want to save them.
Does the tag say 225HP? Might have 120/0 split shot injectors
The wheels are pretty ugly and it will make it harder to roll on the trailer for the scrap yard, so unfortunately I'll have to scrap them. Yes, tag does say 225hp. I'm not familiar with the e series, is that higher than a truck 97? I'll be putting my 180/30's in it but may hang onto the old injectors.
What were those CA emission '97s rated at? They had those split shots too.
Pal pulled a low mile roller 351W from a van for his truck, said it was a total PITA to pull.
I read the van also has a different turbo, any truth?
From what I understand the turbo exhaust housing is larger on the vans, drivers side manifold and oil cooler. I plan on swapping everything over this weekend so I'll have to compare items and see. I'm also putting in Comp 910 springs to hopefully avoid valve to piston contact on this engine.
Yes to the Smith Bro pushrods, I actually bought them when I bent/broke my stock ones so they have about 5 minutes of run time. I'll leave the head bolts in for now, it all adds up fast!
I got the injectors in, front cover, HPOP, Melling LPOP, oil pickup and pan on. I reused my 95 front cover, and the oil pickup is on the opposite side from the 97, so I had to move the main cap stud over a spot. The "L" bracket for the pickup sits on the stud pretty close to rotating crank but should have just enough clearance without hitting. I'm sure that's how it was on my old engine but I failed to get a picture to double check. Being so close made me do a double take but it wouldn't fit any other way. Anyone happen to have a photo of the pickup installed on a 94/95 block?
Git it buttoned up and installed. It's running better than ever. Sure feels good to be back in the diesel, but my trusty 351 gasser has been a life saver while the diesel was down.
