Im currently trying to buy new f150. I'm looking at a 2025 XLT supercrew 4x4, 6.5' box with the 3.5 ecoboost and the tow package. The dealer says it will tow 13500 pounds, but according to the Ford tow calculator it will only tow 10800. This truck does not have the max tow axel or more leaf springs, if you try to build a truck at any trim level with the 3.5 ecoboost it will not allow you to pick the "max tow package."
Im not sure who to believe. Fords charts say you need the thr exact truck im buying to get that kind of towing capacity, but it also says you need the max tow option, which you can't get. Makes no sense.
Have you dealer build the truck on their system and see if it allows max tow. When I ordered my 23 it wouldn't allow it on line, but I learned later if I had asked for it when ordering it was available.

are you actually planning to tow something that weighs 13,500 lbs? You'll run out of payload rating long before you run out of "tow rating" on nearly any configuration of truck.
Trust the tow calculator. It runs off the VIN of the truck and is based on the actual configuration of the truck. Every option affects payload and tow rating - bed length, engine, cab size, interior options, etc...
I towed about 5800 lbs combined trailer with a 99 4 dr Jeep Cherokee with 37's so like pulling a brick in the wind. Very impressed with the power of the 3.5 ecoboost with 10 sp. It was a 2025 F150 crew cab 4x4.
I did notice that the load moved the back of the truck around more than my 2022 F250 CC LB.
It was never uneasy feeling yet if I was going to tow 6000 frequently I would go F250.
For pulling a boat or motorcycles on a trailer, smaller camper I would definitely go F150 ecoboost 3.5.
having owned a 23 with the tow max and breaking down in AK, while towing a air stream 150 miles from a dealer , till ford comes u with a fix for that single bolt holding the hub to the axle i wouldn't want one,
