Injectors
Injectors
My 2002 f450 has been having some issues I’m pretty sure it’s a injector issue or head gasket .For the most parts it runs fine but I know something is wrong when I step on the gas to quick I hear it try to shut off and has light white smoke and let off the gas until it gets back to running smooth which just takes a few seconds off the gas . if under load I can’t go more than 50 without seeing heavy white smoke I try to avoid seeing any smoke before figuring out the problem .if it does end up being injectors should I go back with stock or is there something a bit more $ but worth it
First thing to check is fuel pressure, at wide open throttle, under load. You have a steel tank that has a reputation for the internal coating delaminating and plugging the screens in the tank. Low fuel pressure can easily cause the symptoms you describe.
For future trouble shooting reference
95% of the time
The exception is on a cold start when it's below 45 degrees, white smoke can be a glow plug system issue
95% of the time
- White smoke = not enough fuel
- Black smoke = not enough air
- Blue smoke = burning oil
The exception is on a cold start when it's below 45 degrees, white smoke can be a glow plug system issue
