1986 300 inline six EGR delete

I’m sorry if this has been asked before I’m just very frustrated. I was wondering if anyone has truly done a EGR delete. I am wanting to take all the metal tubes out. Take off the spacer from the intake, and bolt the carb directly to the intake.

I haven't messed with a six, but most of the time on a v8 when you take the spacer off you are rewarded with a hole that supply's exhaust for the egr. You have to block it off with guess what? A spacer of some kind. If you truly want to get rid of the EGR, you need to find a older 1960's to 1970's 240 or 300 that did not come with EGR and use the intake off of it.

Is there a problem or leak? Does the truck run OK?

You will need to plug it on the intake first. Then i think vintage sells a spacer that will set up to the same/,or simular height. Potential problems may develop with just changing the stud lengths and mounting it flat to the intake. Raising carbs has a tendsncy to raise velocity and thus low rpm power, lowering it may have the opposite effect. Too much heat may cause gas to vaporize in the carb, breather may not fit in relation to other parts that low. I have been examining my options in regard to that as well. So far i think the vintage lines spacer is the most reasonable option.

You need the EGR as a spacer to raise the carb so the throttle cable and if auto, the kick down rod line up right.
I just removed the vacuum line to it and plugged the large tube to the bottom with a plug as I run EFI EXH manifolds.
I also did it this way because I did not know if the truck had to go thru smog and I could hook the vacuum back up to look like it worked.
Some have cut the valve off, filled the hole(s) with JB Weld and finished it off to look nice also, make it look like a spacer.

Some say the EGR keep the combustion temps down so you dont get pinging, dont know how true that is but I do get pinging with a load and low RPM but I also have the timing advanced to 12* to 14* BTDC
