I have a 92 7.3 idi and recently I noticed that I have a lot of bubbling coming out the injector caps and bought a kit from car quest and viton orings from harbor freight. After installing I noticed that all the caps were loose even after snapping down and didn't think much of it. I fired up the truck and diesel came spewing out from under every cap. Just wondering what sets y'all would recommend going with because that car quest one was no good.
I found a mention of billet rails instead of caps in an older thread... Has anybody tried those? Here's the link to them https://idiperformance.com/shop/fuel-system/billet-injector-fuel-return-rails/. I feel like these would be nice in the long run
I only use Delphi brand return line kits. Viton brown 111 o-rings sold separately. I've never had a failure after install on either truck since 2009 w/ f250 & 2013 w/ F450. The most issue I've ever had was perhaps making sure I pressed down hard enough on a cap or two after install. Once installed, I've never had a failure. Not even after disturbing a return line from time to time.
Well if every cap leaked then either they weren't pushed down all the way, every o-ring was the wrong size, or the caps are all sized wrong. There aren't that many variables with a return line kit. Or you could pony up for these, https://www.ebay.com/itm/356830931492
I reuse my caps, buy a bag of 50 Viton "O" Rings from McMaster-Carr, use to be around $10.
Size 111 Viton,
Put the whole side together as an assembly, (Caps and Hoses) can reuse the spring clamps.
Remove the old rubber rings off the Injectors, make sure the top are clean. Blow them off with
Carb Cleaner. grease up the new O Rings, put on the top one, then roll the 2nd one over the top
one. Grease up the inside the Caps, place ontop of the injectors, and push down till you hear them
click into place.
