hello everyone, I need some help figuring out why I don't have reverse lights. I found that the current neutral safety switch was bad, and the button was seized in the sensor so I replaced it with a new NS-44 switch since I have a 5-wire harness on the truck and still get no power to the taillights, so I'm wondering if I got to do some rewiring or change the harness to a 4 pin since the old switch was a 4 pin. I'm working on a 1993 F150 5.0L.

Reason: forget to mention what I'm working on
Yup. sounds like you need to rewire it with a new connector
You need to say what you are driving or working on
But those old MLP sensors and the early TR sensors all got updated and rewired with a new connector
That is how Fiord did it anyway
Not sure of your switch brand or that part number, but it should have come with a new connector too, right?
thanks for the reply, and I drive a 1993 F150 and would it be best to buy a 4-pin neutral safety switch and harness to match or just rewire my 5-pin harness so my 5-pin switch will work also, the truck starts right up and drives fine it's just the problem of not having reverse lights. i also bought a standard 5 pin switch and it didn't come with anything else but the switch.

The switch is on the transmission but you still haven’t told us what transmission. How do you have a 5 wire harness but it had a 4 pin switch? Why did you go with a 5 pin and not replace it with another 4 pin to match what was there? How did you determine that the switch is the problem?
i have a AOD trans and I figure my switch is the problem since I have power to the harness that goes to the switch and I figured that since I have a 5-wire harness that the 4-pin switch wasn't meant to be there and the last owner who had it messed with a bunch of stuff that I'm fixing as well and I checked my harness earlier and get 12 volts when in reverse at the plug side of the neutral safety switch, but can buy a 4 pin to see if that fixes my issue.
There are 7 wires total in the loom but only 5 got to the neutral safety switch. The 2 blue wires go to a separate plug that’s capped off, and the wires that go to the switch are red/light blue stripe, red/yellow stripe, purple/orange stripe, black/white or pink stripe(the stripe is kinda faded), and yellow/pink or red stripe(also kinda faded)

I posted a reply saying what trans I have and a photo of the wires that I have coming from the harness that goes to the switch and the colors of each wire as well.
If you do not have the electronic shift transfer case only 4 of those pins are used. Purple/Orange and Black/Pink are used for the reverse lamp circuit. White/Pink and Red/Light Blue are for the starter circuit. The remaining Red/White wire is for the electronic shift function. The NSS case provides a ground path for the electronic shift function.
