did my first highway run with the 21 F150 XLT 4X4 5.0 V8 10 speed trans after owning this truck for 10 months.
25-35 MPH mileage has been a consistent 17.5 to 18.4 MPG. (the 17.5 MPG was winter mileage letting the engine warm up before driving.)
today was my first on the road run. took She Who Must Be Obeyed (my 94 year young mother) to my nephews house to see her great grandchildren.
130 miles round trip. cruise set on 55, and averaged 22.8 MPG
the best i ever saw with my 04 F350 with 5.4 was 15 out on the road at 60mph. around town was closer to 7-8
WOW! My Mark LT (4X2) does have lower gears in it as compared to the F series IIRR- 3.78's..... But here in Los Angeles, in what most would call regular type city driving she gets a solid 15-16 mpg with no issue and on the freeway, she gets 20-23 mpg depending if the AC is on or not, etc. The funny part is in typical heavy downtown traffic she gets 10-11 mpg- while that may seem terrible, my sister-in-law worked right down the street (Downtown LA) and with her Acura MDX she only gets 10 mpg going to/from work! 3k pound tin bucket versus 5k pound steel framed truck- I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
