Hello
I just got an f250 6.0 needing a starter.
I ordered one for a 6.4 from Rockauto which I read was a direct swap and upgrade.
when I went to install it I found out one bolt hole is smalller, so from further reading I assume this is a 6.7 starter they sent by mistake or was boxed by mistake What I got is a Carquest brand 6675sn on the box and on a sticker in the unit.
But it has 3 small bolts instead of one larger bolt like 6.0 and 6.4 starters.
I don’t think I can retap the one bolt hole. Not enough meat in the aluminum ear. so I would have to go with using a smaller bolt and maybe a bushing.
my question is would the 6.7 starter be hard on the electrical system? Amp draw etc?
who knows if it’s even a 6.7 starter may just have gotten the wrong nose installed in Malaysia when they built it.
I hate sending stuff back to Rock Auto and it was a close out for like $70. Dollars
should I just use it with the smaller bolt? And not worry about the amp draw
I drilled and threaded the hole on my 6.7 starter. It is a little thin, but has been holding fine for 3 years. I definitely like the faster RPM of this starter. I probably should have done the smaller bolt with bushing, but so far so good.
