Bought a glowshift tach , hooked it up correctly as per manufacturer wiring diagram, but am unsure which side of the coil is ground as both wires on the plug for it are hot according to my test light.
Read online it is the tan and yellow wire, when hooked up there the tach is very jumpy
All the tachs I have hooked up go to the NEG side of the coil.
You did not say what year you are doing this on but as a guess it has electronic ignition and when testing with a test light both side of the coil will show power.
Crank the motor over or have it running and test again 1 side should flash, all be it fast if running.
